Ho’s Song of the Day- I have been an admirer of Tove Lo since her debut and was surprised yet happy to see she released a follow-up to her tremendous sophomore album Ladywood this year with Blue Lips (Ladywood II). It certainly is thematically is a follow-up to the interwoven themes of love, intimacy, and sexuality that has threaded through Ladywood but her debut album as well. Blue Lips is even more raw and dare I say raunchier than her past work, but what has always grounded Tove Lo is her formidable song writing and delivery. Check out an early highlight from the album, called “struggle.”

Ho’s Song of the Day- In honor of the 10th year anniversary of Tegan and Sara’s groundbreaking album, The Con, they are releasing the The Con X: The Covers, the entire album redone by various artists. Here is the latest release off the album, Ryan Adams  (who you may remember redid the entire 1989 album) with his garage band-esque version of “Back In Your Head” that I’m sure the twins just loved. Check it out below.

Image result for SZA

Ho’s Song of the Day-  To finish out this week strong, check out this double feature of great tracks:

1) SZA: Quicksand

SZA is having her moment to shine, having guest spots on new songs from both Maroon 5 and Lorde. But, SZA shines just as brightly on her own, especially on this track from the Insecure Season 2 soundtrack. “Quicksand” brings that classic R&B sound as well as exploring central themes to her debut LP CTRL that fits perfectly well into the narrative of the show. I adore SZA and happy she’s continuing to release great music.

2) BORNS: Sweet Dreams

There is a such a dreamy Americana to BORNS’ work and it certainly helps when you’re working with Emile Haynie (the famed producer of Lana’s Born to Die). I still love hearing his track “Past Lives” and love that he’s continued to released such a steady stream of music. Check out “Sweet Dreams” and get drawn in.
